The Shawshank Redemption

"Get busy living, or get busy dying"

The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American drama film.
This is a very inspiring film , it shows that if you really want something you can get it, and that hope can be the light when everything else is dark.

Andy Dufresne, was convicted for killing his wife and her lover. Andy was innocent, he did not commit this crime, but at the same time he had no way to prove his innocence, therefore he settled to his two life sentences. He was hopeful, he always thought that things would get better, it would take time but eventually they would. He started working at the library, this was a way to spend his time and also be helpful.
Before he went to prison he worked at a bank so he was very good with numbers, this gave him the chance to work for the warden. This also made Andy's chances to get out of prison smaller, because he knew where all the warden's money was coming from, and I he ever said this to anybody it would get the warden fired.
Andy spent 19 years in prison. Every year he spent there was used to work on his escape, he dug a hole on his cell that took him all the way out of the building. He stole the money from the warden and used it once he got out of jail.
Andy never gave up, he knew he was innocent, and god wouldn't sentence him for something he didn't do. He was always hopeful, and had a goal, to get out of that place and restart his life. He planned his escape carefully and when the time was right, he left, just like he always wanted. He started his own business in Mexico and moved close to the Pacific Ocean, a place that has no memory.

Red was Andy best friend, but he wasn't always like this, when Andy first got to the building Red judged him wrong, he thought Andy would cry and wouldn't make it the first night he was there, what he never thought was that Andy was about to change his life and the way he looked at things. Red was a hopeless man, he thought that there was nothing for him outside of those walls, that it was better just to get used to it and live with it. Andy changed this, he restored Red's hope  he told Red about his plans outside of prison, and that he was welcome to be part of those plans. When Andy left Shawshank, this showed Red that there was a chance, and that things could get better. His hope was restored and he started a new life along with his best friend.

Warden is a religious man, he believes in god, and money. His program of prison cheap labour gets him a lot of money, and he'll do anything it takes to keep it. Andy is in charge of "cleaning" and banking this money, because Andy knows about all this the warden will eliminate any possibility of Andy getting out of prison. All Samuel knew was his dirty business with the cheap labour  that has his life and what he worked for. Also he believed strongly on the bible and he also quotes many of the bible passages which come back and haunt them due to his hypocritical nature. Norton kills himself once the police finds out about his dirty work and his fraud. He was a hopeless man, he never changed or even saw change as an option, he was mean and selfish and abused his power.

I really enjoyed this movie. It shows that things can get better, and that hope, can be that extra push you need to follow your dreams and achieve your goals.
